Time Schedule

General Information

The conference is organized in collaboration with the Association Science is Cool (SCOOL), a non profit organization. You are strongly encouraged to join SCOOL since this entitles you to important benefits incuding a reduced fee for this and various other conferences.

The symposium will start on Sunday evening, March 12th, 2023. You should therefore plan to arrive on Sunday afternoon at the latest. Arrival on Saturday, March 11th, 2023 is possible previous direct contact with the hotel.

Upon arrival, you will receive the abstract booklet together with the final program at the registration desk.

Half board starts on Sunday evening with dinner. The scientific program runs from Sunday evening to Friday evening. Departure is on Saturday, March 18th, 2021 after breakfast.

In addition to the scientific program, an important purpose of this symposium is to foster informal contacts during daily skiing activities. Therefore the central hours of each day will be devoted to skiing in groups both with and without skimasters.

Accomodation

All participants will be accommodated in the four star Hotel Pavillon, in Courmayeur.

The following types of accommodation are available: single, double, and triple rooms. Triple rooms will be assigned only to groups already formed, whereas, in the case of double room, a preferred roommate may be indicated.

We have only a limited number of rooms at our disposal, and therefore we urge you to fill out the online-registration form as soon as possible. Rooms will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

Accompanying persons are welcome, but will have to pay the full fee.

In case you want to arrive earlier than March 12th or depart later than March 18th, please contact the hotel directly at info@pavillon.it

How to reach Courmayeur

By car : Courmayeur is connected to Aosta by a highway and to France and Switzerland by the Mont Blanc and the Gran San Bernardo tunnels.

By plane: nearest airport are Milano Malpensa, Milano Linate, and Geneva.

By bus: connection services (Flixbus) are available from and to Geneva, Chamonix and Milano, unfortunately not directly from or to the airports.

Several private shuttle services can be found on the web. One based locally is Airport Transfers, which can be reached at info@airporttransfers.it

For participants flying from Malpensa the shuttle service to Aosta organized by the local public transportation service Arriva offers also the possibility to integrate the fare with a final leg to any destination (see brochure)

All the general bus connections will usually reach Aosta: from there to Courmayeur you can take the public local transportation service (see timetable)

More information can be found at the official tourism website.

Please note that the scheduled closure to traffic of the Mount Blanc Tunnel should not interfere with your arrival/departure

Ski info

The ski area of Courmayeur is one of the most important and beautiful of Italy. It has 41 km of pists and 18 lift transportations and a wonderful view over the Mont Blanc.

Registration

3S’23 is organized in collaboration with Science is Cool (SCOOL), a non-profit Cultural Association that promotes educational activities and scientific events aimed at engaging, at different levels, people with science.

3S’23 is open to both members and non-members of SCOOL: the first are exempted from VAT on the registration fee, which results in a substantial fee reduction (see table below), while the latter are not.

If you’re not a SCOOL member yet, you can join the association before registering for 3S’23 by following the indications at https://www.scienceiscool.it/membership-subscription. Upon acceptance, you will receive the Annual Membership number that will allow you to access all the benefits. The relevant annual association fee will be collected onsite.

Moreover, it is not necessary insert this number in the 3S’23 registration form below: please fill it in simultaneously with your SCOOL application, and simply answer yes to the question about membership in the 3S’23 registration form. The common registration system will crosscheck the data.

For both SCOOL and non SCOOL members, registration for the conference will be acknowledged by an e-mail containing the payment instructions and, for SCOOL members, also the SCOOL association number.

Conference Fees for 3S’23

The conference fee for 3S’23 depends on the accommodation chosen by the attendee, and includes participation in the scientific sessions, the book of abstracts (printed or online version), in addition to the room, breakfast, and dinner at the hotel (see Accommodation for more information on the subject). Please note that lunches are not included in the conference fee.

Moreover, skiing classes (Mo – Fr) by highly qualified instructors (small groups from casual skiers to experts) and a 5-day ski-pass (Mo – Fr) for the Courmayeur skiing region are comprised in the fees.

Accompanying persons are welcome but with no difference in the participation fee (please note that they can also join SCOOL).

All registrations will be handled strictly on a first come – first served basis: the chosen accommodation availability will be confirmed in the registration acknowledgment mail, together with the payment instruction.

Any room will be considered as assigned only when the relevant payment is received. After two weeks , the unpaid for room will be considered as available again.

Conference fee for SCOOL members

Science is Cool members enjoy a discount on the Conference fees. The annual SCOOL membership fee (2€) can be paid cash on-site at the registration desk.
